'Vivan Sundaram is one of the few consistently conceptualist artists of his generation in India, having gravitated from his accomplished practice as a painter in the early 1990s towards working with assemblage, photography, video and installation. In this mode of work he is joined by a constellation of artist-colleagues and comrades including Nalini Malani, Navjot Altaf and the late Rummana Hussain. Sundaram's work over the last fifteen years or more is emblematic of the tendency in international art towards the collaborative project executed by an artist with a team of helpers, each bringing his/her own skills and insights to the final work.' - extracted from essay by Chaitanya Sambrani. Artist biography is provided in this catalogue.
