Since the first 'MOT Annual' in 1999, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo has presented a group exhibition every year to introduce the latest trends in Japanese Art. This year's exhibition considers how, with the proliferation of telecommunications technology and media, the events of the past and flood of information in the present are compressed into a shallow episode, making it difficult to place the present in the context of a longer span of time. Eight artists were selected for the exhibition because their individual perspectives grasp the present while remaining informed by the past and future. Other themes include the identity of people who live with the uncertainties of contemporary society and the way they deal with time. Artists' biographies, selected bibliography and list of works included.
