Can You Tell Me? (Exhibition View)

According to Liu Jianhua, the work summarises his perception of Shanghai in the mid-2000s. 'The engine of the global economy is located in Asia; [the engine per se] is China, while the engine of China's economy is Shanghai.
I believe the meaning of this work lies in the situation that when the audience finish reading the 100 questions, they will realise there are no standard answers in [real] life. These questions come from nowhere but our minds and feelings. These feelings come from the reality, and yet represent a sense of longing for Shanghai. The work also [engenders interactions] with the audience.'
