Performance to Welcome Vu Dan Tan's Cadillac-Icarus in Hanoi
Cadillac-Icarus was a sculpture produced by Vu Dan Tan in 1999 during his residency at Pacific Bridge Gallery, Oakland, CA, United States. The contents of this folder relate to the creation of Cadillac-Icarus and a film and performance in 2000 centred on the work. While the film project in Hanoi was initiated by Pacific Bridge Gallery, Salon Natasha worked in cooperation with the American crew to organise the closing event – a greeting of Cadillac-Icarus at his final destination – which, at that time, was a garden in the artist Dao Anh Khanh's studio. This greeting turned into a day-long improvised performance with Dao acting as Icarus and a dozen of Vietnamese visual artists playing music on traditional instruments and loose car parts. Vu Dan Tan also participated in the performance.
