A work by Nguyen Van Cuong presented at the group exhibition 'Cinq Artistes - Quatre Murs' (Five Artists - Four Walls) or 'New Story - New Artists', in Salon Natasha, 1995.
The group exhibition was a celebratory happening after the renovation of Salon Natasha in 1995 – hence the title ‘Cinq Artistes – Quartre Murs' (Five Artists, Four Walls), or 'New Story – New Artists'. The exhibition featured works by artists Dinh Bao Long, Nguyen Van Cuong, Nguyen Minh Thanh, Nguyen Quang Huy, and Tran Nhat Thang, who were all fourth-year students by the time at the Hanoi Fine Arts University. By inviting young artists to have their first exhibition at its gallery space, Salon Natasha intended to bridge the gap between the professional artists and the younger generation who had yet to receive their degree or any formal art education.
Three artists from the show, including Nguyen Van Cuong, Nguyen Minh Thanh, and Nhuyen Quang Huy, were students of Truong Tan and German artist/educator Veronika Radulovic. The two had been associated with Hanoi Fine Arts University for many years. They later became very active in Salon Natasha, participated in its numerous events, and initiated projects to encourage young artists.
