10,000 Paintings I Must Paint Before I Die (Exhibition Opening) (Set of 12 Photographs)
Compilation of photographs taken at the opening of Roberto Chabet's solo exhibition '10,000 Paintings I Must Paint Before I Die', Magnet Gallery, Katipunan, 14 April 2009.
Notable figures include Roberto Chabet (Image 1, 4-12), Juni Salvador (Image 1, 4, 6), Ringo Bunoan (Image 1), Bea Camacho (Image 1, 3), Nilo Ilarde (Image 2, 6), and Soler Santos (Image 8).
The exhibition features a same-titled installation composed of hundreds of red, yellow, blue, black, and white canvasses attached onto clipboards and installed on a grid on the walls, and a neon sign that reads '10000 Paintings I Must Paint Before I Die'.
The neon text refers to the title of a guide book on Art History, and the Buddhist concept of '10,000 Things', which denotes the sum of all essences and the dynamic interconnection, simultaneous unity and diversity of everything in the universe.
