Biography:

Shen Yuan (b. 1959, Xianyou, Fujian Province) is an artist who lives and works in Paris.

Shen was in the first group of students admitted to Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts (now the China Academy of Art) after the Cultural Revolution. She studied Chinese painting, and on graduating in 1982, took part in many of the experimental art activities in Xiamen in the mid-1980s.

In 1989, her work Water Bed was shown in the ‘China/Avant-Garde Exhibition’ at the National Art Museum of China (Beijing, 1989). In 1990, Shen moved to Paris with her partner, Huang Yongping. Since then, she has participated in many international exhibitions, including ‘Cities on the Move’ (Vienna, Bordeaux, New York, Copenhagen, London, Bangkok and Helsinki, 1997–1999), the second Guangzhou Triennial (2005), the 52nd Venice Biennale (2007) and the ‘’85 New Wave’ (Beijing, 2007–2008).

沈遠，1959年出生於福建仙游。藝術家，現居巴黎。

沈遠是文化大革命後第一屆考入浙江美術學院（現中國美術學院）國畫系的學生，於1982年畢業。八十年代中期參加在廈門發生的激進藝術活動。她的作品⟨水床⟩參加1989年《中國現代藝術展》（北京中國美術館）。1990年與丈夫黃永砅移居法國巴黎。


自九十年代開始，她參與的國際性大型展覽包括：《運動中的城市》（1997—1999，維也納，波爾多，紐約，哥本哈根，倫敦，曼谷，赫爾辛基）；第二屆《廣州三年展》（2005，廣州）；第52屆《威尼斯雙年展》（2007，威尼斯）及《’85新潮》（2007—2008，北京）等。
