The Bach Rhapsody,
'Using multiple copies of footage I have downloaded off the internet (pirated copies) and re-shot these materials in an attempt to give a new voice to what has been appropriated through post-production editing, meanwhile, the subtitles of the footage were re-translated. Using today’s ‘ready-mades’ to mimic the early periods of silent films, by which to approach the “truth” in the construction of these elements. I am very interested in the dislocation of contexts in relation to the moving images, associating the Nazi imagination with Communist Party propaganda to provoke a sense of absurdity. The translation, images and sound that conflict continuously with the intricacies of the original text constitutes a new tension. The original story took place in a holiday camp where people would realize their dreams, either become a Nazi or a billionaire, and etc.' (artist statement)
