The work consisted of 12 pieces of self-portrait paintings by Gao Bo. Materials used in the painting include soil, gentian violet, traditional Chinese medicine, salt, and newspaper. From 1996 to 1997, Gao Bo displayed the work by mounting the paintings on vitrines and walls at different locations in Lanzhou for several times.
