Asia-Europe New Media Art Symposium (ASEUM): EAR2EYE Festival for Experimental Music and Related Visual Arts — the first International New Media Art Festival in the Philippines — was held from 21-25 July 2009 in five venues: Gweilos (Makati City), Green Papaya Art Projects (Quezon City), Espasyo Siningdikato (Dasmariñas, Cavite), Penguin Café (Manila) and Mogwai Cinematheque (Manila). ASEUM was a project by SABAW Media Art Kitchen (Philippines) in cooperation with Multimedia Center KIBLA (Slovenia) and was supported by the Asia-Europe Foundation as a follow-up project of the Asia-Europe Art Camp New Media series.
The Festival's programme included performances, lectures, workshops and discussions on topics such as open source software movements, interactivity, data visualization, bio-technology, DIY electronics, open-source hardware, computer/electronic music, and sound and video art. Presentations and workshops were also held at the University of the Philippines - Diliman, De La Salle University - Dasmariñas, and De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde.
New and intermedia art practitioners, researchers, curators and producers who participated were Peter Tomaz Dobrila, Jerneja Rebernak, Emma Oto, Aether9, Tad Ermitaño, Malek Lopez, Angelo Vermeulen, Diego Maranan, Brian O’ Reilly, Rick Bahague, Lirio Salvador, Visual Pond, Tim O' Dwyer, Darren Moore, Vanini Belarmino, and Noel de Brakinghe.
The Festival featured performances by Iron Egg, Rubber Inc, Caliph8, Gangan Ensemble, Inconnu Ictu, Tengal, Aether9, Elemento, Ugong, Blend:er, Minister Zero, DJ Drumlander, Sgt. Vez, Edsel Abesamis, Tad Ermitaño, Mannet Villariba, Drip, Eggboy, Autoceremony, Etniktronika, Angelo Suarez, Costantino Zicarelli, Nyabinghi and Terraformer.
