Dream (Partial)

According to Liu Jianhua, the creation of the work Dream was inspired by the catastrophes human beings experienced while attempting to explore the outer-space. 'In January 2003, the American space shuttle Columbia exploded while re-entering the earth’s atmosphere, shocking the whole world. [The incident] brought to my mind the numerous [air disasters] since man first landed on moon. The price is too high for us to explore the mysteries of space and man has trusted in scientific and technical developments too easily, whilst these achievements remain unreliable. We are now starting to realise that there are always [pros and cons] in the evolution of all things.' (Text given by the artist to Asia Art Archive in 2013)
