Founded in 1997 by a group of independent Hong Kong filmmakers, Ying E Chi is a non-profit arts organisation. In 2011, they also formed a branch in Macau. According to their website, Ying E Chi's mission is 'to unite local independent filmmakers, as well as to distribute and promote independent films.' Other than releasing VCDs and DVDs of Hong Kong made independent films, Ying E Chi has also organised screenings, talks, and workshops. Since 2010, 'Club YEC' has also hosted free screenings and exchange activities.
