Envelopes Used by Participants of Crosscurrents

Envelopes from artists participating in 'Crosscurrents'. The artists of the 'Crosscurrents' project often used the specially designed and decorated envelops for their letters.

During the project development there was an intense correspondence between the two curators: Bonney Bombach from the Australian side and Natasha Kraevskaia from the Vietnamese. Other artists also exchanged letters. In the absence of the internet and too costly telephone connection there was only one method of verbal communication: letters and postcards. These provided impromptu artworks in the guise of communication and additional means to explain, understand and assist in the process of project management and later in the organization of the exhibitions. This folder does not contain all of the numerous letters that were written and received in the period from 1996 to 2000, only those which were kept in Natalia Kraevskaia and Bonney Bombach's personal archives.

1. Pat Van Ingen with her drawings and colour print details and a reproduction of wood-block print by Vu Dan Tan (on the right side) featuring Don Quixote and Sancho Panza.
2. Pat Van Ingen using a reproduction from a wood-block print by Vu Dan Tan (on the right side) featuring Don Quixote and Sancho Panza and of his self-portrait (on the left side).
3. Bonney Bombach with stamps featuring the Australian fauna and  with her own drawing.
4. Michael Baartz using an image from the collaborative work between Australian artists and Eric Leroux.
