Press release of Roberto Chabet's first solo exhibition, titled 'Rodriguez Chabet: Artist Of Promise', dated 17 April 1961.

'Rodriguez is surprisingly original for one so artistically young. Armed with the simplest of materials and technique, he achieves what many others do not accomplish: identity. He knows where he wants to go and gets there with no nonsense. The results are paintings that seem effortless and spontaneous, with no pretense of being anything but what they are, namely, well-executed pictorial arrangements expressing simple themes.'

'How well this young painter fulfills the promise of his first exhibition is largely a matter of time and hopeful speculation. One thing is certain: Rodriguez is the most exciting young artist to appear in years.'

The exhibition opened at Luz Gallery on 22 April 1961. Originally scheduled to end on 4 May, the exhibition was extended until 11 May.
