Photograph of Roberto Chabet's Untitled miniature drum and shell. One side of the drum can open, revealing a small black shell inside.
Drums and shells are recurring objects in Chabet's paintings and installations that both signify sound and air. He has used them in the exhibition 'Other Planets' at West Gallery in 1993, and in 'Dreams: 100 Years', which was shown at West Gallery, SM Megamall, together with 'Four Directions' at Finale Art Gallery in 1999.
The work is from the collection of Joy Dayrit.
