Photograph of Roberto Chabet's Kong Ziggurat (Fall).
The Kong Ziggurats (or King Kong Collages) is a set of collages made by Chabet from 1979 to 1980 using pages from the book, The Making Of King Kong. His collages from this period were not layered, but were made with whole sheets of paper taped side by side or by placing sheets on top of each other.
The work was first shown in the exhibition, 'The Making of King Kong and Other Works,' at Alegria Gallery from 16 October - 10 November 1981. It was also included in the exhibition, 'Ziggurat,' at West Gallery from 29 March - 23 April 2011. The exhibition is part of 'Chabet: 50 Years,' a year-long series of exhibitions organised by King Kong Art Projects Unlimited in various venues in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Manila from 2011 - 2012.
