Mrinalini Mukherjee Archive
Photo Documentation of Art Historical and Cultural Sites
This folder consists of photographs from Mukherjee’s extensive travels with her then-architect-husband Ranjit Singh in the 1980s–90s. During her travels from Rajasthan to Orissa, and from Kerala to Ladakh, Mukherjee visited several sites of art historical and archaeological importance, which she documented extensively—with a focus on architecture (stupas, markets, forts, temples), sculptures (classical iconography, folk deities), and traditional performances (Kathakali, Theyyam) that form a crucial part of her artistic research. A small set of photographs document architectural sites and indigenous practices of Thailand, Cambodia, and Australia.
The photographs in this folder are digitised from 35mm colour slides.
