According to Liu Jianhua, The Virtual Scene responses to the rapid development and globalisation that happened in China since 1990s, with Shanghai as the epitome, or case study. It builds up a cityscape made of poker chips, which represents a new mode of living in China. It represent people’s 'wisdom, impulse, rationality, thinking, culture, adventure, allocation, gaming, leisure, intensity, etc.'
