'This is the art piece I made for the exhibition held in Museum of Contemporary Art, Taipei, in March 2006. Anything about Taiwan has been [considered] sensitive in Chinese politics. The ice-breaking visit to the Mainland last year has opened a new window for the political atmosphere in both sides of the Strait. [Under such tension], the issue concerning Mainland’s offer to give a pair of pandas to Taiwan has been politicised infinitely. Certainly, Pandas are considered innocent here in the work; by using the cold-looking crystal and porcelain, I hope to demonstrate how mentally fragile and flimsy people are, and how they could blindly reject something simply because of fear.'
