“The Fifth Studio is a self-contained space within the system of the arts academy” is a quote from Xiaopeng that evokes various aspects of my work and study at the studio. It is the most accurate description of how I felt during my time there, and it is also Xiaopeng's core philosophy of maintaining a studio that wanders at the boundaries. Xiaopeng has passed away, and his ashes are buried in Shantou, Guangdong. As for my memories of Xiaopeng and his philosophy, I wanted to bury them in the physical space of the Fifth Studio. I wrote this sentence on the wall inside The Fifth Studio and at the entrance to the lift in and out of the studio. I then covered it with white paint to bury it, and with this, I have completed my last ritual to honour the mentor I admired the most. 「五工作室是學院體制內的自留空間」是小鵬說過的一句話。這句話勾起了我在第五工作室工作學習的點點滴滴，是我對那段時光的感受最準確的描述，亦是小鵬對執行這樣一個游走在邊界的工作室最核心的理念。小鵬離世了，他的骨灰埋在了汕頭，而我的回憶與小鵬的理念，我想將它葬於第五工作室的物理空間。我在第五工作室內部和出入第五工作室的電梯口的牆面上寫下這句話，隨即覆蓋上白色的油漆，以掩埋它。借此，我完成了對我最仰的導師最後的儀式。感謝廣州美術學院第五工作室提供的幫助與支持，讓我得以實施這個儀式。（藝術家自述，摘自《別殺我，我還在愛！——向黃小鵬致敬》場刊）
