'In 2003, two months after coming back to China from the UK, I was invited to take part in an exhibition in PARK 19, an independent art space in Guangzhou. As the show was held in a ruined building, my idea was to do something about its enviroment rather than bringing in a finished work. After discussing it with the curator, I decided to use one of the construction sites that was being worked on. I asked the builders to stop working immediately, and sealed off the site. The next day I put up a glass wall with a slogan (as the title of the work) which isolated the site from the rest of the building. I wanted to put the construction site behind a shopping window, and invite people to stop and look at it.' (artist statement)
