This document is an unedited draft on the basis of which art critic Geeta Kapur delivered a lecture at the School of Arts and Aesthetics, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, on 9 March 2005.
This lecture was also delivered on the occasion of the Deuskar Memorial Lecture at the Centre for the Studies of Social Sciences, Calcutta, on 17 March 2005.
The talk was accompanied with video clips of films by Anand Patwardhan and video artworks by Amar Kanwar.
