This catalogue was published in conjunction with the exhibition under the same title held at the Getty Research Institute from March to June 2007. The exhibition showcased a selection of original and documentary works of Japanese post-war avant-garde art from the collection of the Research Library at the Getty Research Institute. These works were produced from 1950 to 1970, a period during which a progressive group of Japanese artists refocused their energies, using new forms of media and intermedia collaboration as a conceptual foundation for experimentation.
