The 1980s and 1990s in China witnessed significant developments in contemporary art. What role did women artists play in this process, and what was their view and approach towards the making of art in the context of the rapid social and economic changes of their country? Curator Liao Wen presents the work of 13 women artists and attempts to draw out the characteristics they have in common. Artists' curricula vitae and statements are included.
