This publication is produced in the occasion of the solo exhibition of artist Jamil Naqsh of the same title at Momart Art Gallery in 2013.
Known predominantly as a figurative painter, Jamil Naqsh’s recent work in the field of calligraphy is a continuation of the artist’s early innovative reflection on the contemporary interpretation of Arabic script. The extensive body of work is imbibed with vibrant coloration and texture, involving symbols that mirror a transcendent reality. The exhibition dedicates a true picture of Naqsh’s training and his understanding of the classic tradition, merged with his awareness of modern art.
