A poetic text written by Natasha Kraevskaia which gives a brief introduction to the exhibition, with an epigraph by Joseph Brodsky. Natasha had also attempted to emulate the writing style of Tristan Tzara and Carlos Franqui in the essay. It was also used in press release for the exhibition.
Le Hong Thai later mentioned that the short text has remained his favourite writing on his own arts.
‘Drowning = Solidity’ was a solo exhibition by Le Hong Thai. The artist in his early practice had been known for his abstract lacquer paintings with the employment of traditional lacquer technique on wood. In this exhibition Thai introduced to the public his experimental lacquer works on canvas for the first time, together with some of his abstract gouaches works.
