Wittgenstein’s Duck-Rabbit (Set of 15 Exhibition Views)
Photographs taken at the exhibition 'Wittgenstein’s Duck-Rabbit' curated by Roberto Chabet and Gerardo Tan at West Gallery from 19 March to 2 April 1997.
Excerpt from the press release:
'Wittgenstein's Duck-Rabbit' is a conceptual and installation art exhibition that showcases the works of 14 young artists from the UP College of Fine Arts. The show focuses on the subtle amalgamation of text and imagery. It investigates both the implicit or conspicuous incorporation of written language in art, which transports the viewer to a different visual realm.
A device that predates cubism and is intensively exploited by mass media, the juxtaposition of text and imagery in arts opens up subliminal circuits in the brain and profoundly affects our psychological perception of reality.'
The participating artists are Eia Ablaza, Mei Afable, Dormafe Baluyos, Jose Beduya, Ringo Bunoan, Lena Cobangbang, Al Cruz, Len Familara, Clara Gallardo, Geraldine Javier, Karlo Olavides, Juanito Torres, Rhonda Miranda and Ana Marie Valencia.
