Before shooting this, I often watched period costume dramas in movies and on TV.

When I was in the process of preparing to shoot my own period drama, a question would often pop up in my mind. There were already so many good and bad period dramas in world – why did I want to shoot yet another one? Although I didn’t have an answer at the time, I still felt that I had to go through with it.

During the editing period afterwards once shooting was finished, I got my answer: I was just doing a performance piece that took the form of filming a period drama. Can performance works truly overcome the constraints of space and time?

Here, my answer is: certainly.

在拍攝這個之前，我經常看電影電視里的古裝片。
在準備拍攝自己的古裝片過程時，常常在腦袋里出現一個問題，就是世界上本來就有那麼多好的和不好的古裝片，我為什麼還要多拍一部呢？雖然當時沒有答案，我還是覺得一定要拍。
在拍攝完成之後和後期的剪輯里，我得到了答案：我只是在做一件行為作品，用拍古裝片的形式。行為作品是否真的可以跨越時間和空間的限制呢？
在我這裡答案是肯定的。
